September 2002 PRESIDENTS MESSAGE Hello everyone, The Fall Toms River Youth Soccer Season is now a couple weeks underway. I hope the preseason confusion has cleared up and all teams are operating smoothly. Just a reminder to everyone, youth soccer games are for the kids. Please be supportive of the coaches and players. Make as much noise as you want, but please be POSITIVE. The club now has a new fundraiser which takes the place of the candy sale. The peelers program fundraiser was approved by the board and the membership in August and will serve as our primary fundraiser. Each child must sell five cards for $10.00 apiece. The participating stores and restaurants on the peeler cards are national chains for the most part so feel free to sell them to co-workers and relatives who live out of the area. The peelers cards are honored nationwide. There will be more details of the peelers fundraiser available in this newsletter. Hopefully, with the apparent increase of rain over the last few weeks, our fields at both Oak Park and Shelter Cove will remain green. The sprinklers worked overtime this summer to keep the fields from burning up and they go into the season in good playing condition. A reminder, Shelter Cove and Oak Park remain game fields only. Please do not use these fields for your team practices. You will be asked to leave. There has been an attempt to help alleviate the parking problem that plagues the club at Shelter Cove. The clinic/instructional fields have been moved to the east side of the complex. Coaches and parents who participate in the clinic program, please park in parking lot number 2 (closest to beach) if at all possible. This will help keep parking lot number 1 from overfilling as this is where all the parking is done for games being played on the west side of the complex. The club thanks you in advance for your help. As we move toward October, in addition to the leaves turning color, it will start to get chillier and will also get dark sooner. If you have game make ups that require lights, please call our Referee/Field Assignor Jesse Yeager to schedule these games as early as possible. This will give Jesse the chance to schedule games back to back or on different fields the same night. This will help Jesse maximize the use of available referees for the games. In conclusion, I hope all the kids and
parents enjoy the Fall soccer season. We try to run a "kid first"
organization at Toms River Youth Soccer. If there are any coaching concerns
anyone has with their child's coach, please try to talk it out with that
coach. If you need a third party, please contact Head Coach Bill Skorton
or Assistant Head Coach Cynthia Cannon and they will be glad to help you.
If there are any club issues which concern you, please contact any board
member and we will attempt to address your concerns. TOMS RIVER YOUTH SOCCER CLUB |
